Development of Banknotes and Coins in Taiwan

From the initial use of bartering to the use of currencies, modes of transaction went through changes in Taiwan during the periods of Dutch and Spanish rule, Kingdom of Dongning and Qing Dynasty rule, Japanese Colonial rule, and Republic of China (Taiwan). Later on, a central banking system was introduced, which established a comprehensive mechanism for issuing banknotes and coins.
