Coins in Circulation

To facilitate use, starting in 1981 the 50-cent fractional coin and NT$1 and NT$5 coins were redesigned, and the NT$10 coin was issued. The year 1992 saw the issuance of the NT$50 coin with edge lettering. In 1996, the NT$50 coin was redesigned and tactile marks for the visually impaired were added. In 2001, the NT$20 coin with latent images was issued. The new version of NT$50 coin issued in 2002 has enhanced security features, with latent images, edge lettering, and tactile marks for the visually impaired.
