The Issuance of the Commemorative Coin for the Inauguration of the Fourteenth President and Vice President of the Republic of China (Taiwan)

In celebration of the inauguration of the Fourteenth President and Vice President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) will issue a commemorative gold coin and a commemorative silver coin on May 20, 2016. Each commemorative gold coin will be sold for NT$48,000 and the silver coin NT$1,600.

The Bank has delegated the Bank of Taiwan to sell the 10,000 gold coins and 50,000 silver coins to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, limited to one gold coin and / or one silver coin each per purchaser at a time.

The two commemorative coins are legal tender. The gold coin contains one ounce of gold and is engraved with a face value of NT$2,000, while the silver coin contains one ounce of silver and is engraved with a face value of NT$200. The obverse on both coins features the engraved portraits of the Fourteenth President Ms. Tsai Ing-wen and Vice President Mr. Chen Chien-jen. The reverse shows the insignia of the Office of the President.
